Rescue Commendations
Drowning is the second leading cause of accidental death in Canada for people under 55 years of age. As the lifeguarding experts, the Lifesaving Society is proud to honour individuals who, in an aquatic emergency, come to the assistance of an individual in distress.
M.G. Griffiths Certificate
M.G. Griffith was a pioneer in the Lifesaving Society. He was instrumental in the introduction of Canadian Alternatives to rescue procedures and paved the way for proficiency awards and the formation of the Royal Life Saving Society in Canada. The M.G. Griffiths Certificate is given out to those persons who have received formal training from the Society and have performed an act of bravery. The following persons received M.G. Griffiths Certificates at our 2006 Investiture:
